We Out Here | San Francisco, California
Hunters Point is the last predominantly African-American neighborhood in San Francisco. Out of all major cities in the United States, San Francisco is currently experiencing the fastest out-migration of African-Americans; who currently make up only 6 percent of the population compared to 14 percent in the past several decades.
With the rapid redevelopment of the neighborhood, the remaining residents living in the public housing sprawls on the water are seeing the community they have lived in for the past 60 years become too expensive for them to stay in. We Out Here is a visual documentation of day-to-day life in a community with a deep and rich history in San Francisco as it struggles on the brink of displacement.
